What is Hail Damage Repair?

Hail storms can leave a vehicle peppered with dozens - sometimes hundreds - of dents. Traditional repair means filling and repainting multiple panels. PDR repairs every dent individually while preserving the original finish, and it is a recognised, approved method with all major Australian insurers.

We can work directly with your insurance company and supply the documentation and photos they need. For smaller events where the repair cost is below your excess, paying direct often makes more sense and keeps your no-claim bonus intact.

Every repair is backed by our lifetime workmanship guarantee . Send photos for an honest assessment - if a dent is not a good PDR candidate, we will tell you straight rather than sell you a repair that will not last.

Hail damage - the questions everyone asks

Straight answers before you lodge a claim or book the repair.

01Can hail dents be repaired without painting?
Yes - that is the whole point of paintless dent repair for hail. Provided the paint film is intact (it almost always is on hail damage), each dent is massaged out from behind the panel and the factory finish is kept. Cracked or chipped paint is the exception, and we will flag it in the assessment.
02How long does hail damage repair take?
A light storm - a dozen shallow dents on a couple of panels - is usually same day. A car peppered across roof, bonnet and rails runs to two days. Insurance jobs add the assessor's turnaround on top, which we can't control - but the repair itself is booked as soon as your claim is approved.
03Will my insurance cover PDR for hail damage?
All major Australian insurers recognise PDR as an approved hail-repair method - it is cheaper and faster than conventional repair, so they prefer it. We supply the photos and documentation your assessor asks for. If the repair comes in under your excess, paying direct usually makes more sense and protects your no-claim bonus.
04What does hail damage repair cost?
It scales with dent count and panel access, not panel count alone - light damage on two panels can be a few hundred dollars, a fully peppered roof and bonnet runs to four figures. Mark the panels in the estimator or send photos and you get a real range, not a guess.
05What should I do right after a hail storm?
Photograph the car before anything else - whole car, then each panel, in daylight. Note the date and location of the storm (your insurer will ask). Don't press the dents or try heat/glue kits; both can turn a repairable dent into a repaint. Then get a PDR assessment before you commit to a claim - we tell you honestly whether the repair beats your excess.

Ballina, Lennox Head, Byron Bay, Lismore and the Clarence all sit in the North Coast hail belt - after a storm we prioritise hail jobs across the whole service area. Call 0430 595 525 and mention the storm date.
